Safety Driver Courses – Free Sponsor by the FGPD
These courses are designed for older drivers to help you be a better and safer driver. Topics discussed will include laws and rules of the road, proper use of car safety functions and new technology, effects of medication on driving, age-related physical changes, and how to adjust your driving habits. In many states, drivers may benefit from a discount on their auto insurance premium upon completion of the course.
Through the Tennessee Highway Safety Office, the Fairfield Glade Police Department will reimburse 100% of the cost of this course. All you have to do is bring in the course completion certificate, the receipt of payment, and a photo ID.
Yellow Dot
The Tennessee Yellow DOT Program is designed to supply first responders with an individual’s medical information in the event of an emergency. This information can mean the difference between life and death in the “Golden Hour” immediately following a serious crash.
Packets are available for FREE at the Fairfield Glade Police Department during business hours.
CarFit
CarFit is an educational program that offers older adults the opportunity to check how well their personal vehicles "fit" them. The program also provides information and materials on community-specific resources that could enhance their safety as drivers and/or increase their mobility in the community.
Members of the Fairfield Glade Police Department conduct specific CarFit events and can administer a one-on-one check at the office. Please email (insert the contact email used for the website) to schedule an appointment.
